Introduction to Machine Knitting -Thurs evenings OR Saturdays

This introductory course is for anyone who would like to get to grips with a domestic knitting machine under expert tuition. You can expect to learn the following techniques and leave with a broad understanding of what you can achieve with a knitting machine, a range of swatches and the confidence to continue to knit on your own.

•     machine basics including yarn tension
•     several techniques for casting on and off
•     colour changing (stripes)
•     lace holes and ladders
•     tuck, hold and weaving in 
•     punchcards
•     increasing and decreasing for shaping

Dates: OPTION 1 Thursday evenings, 6 – 9pm Sept 18th, 25th, Oct 2nd 

OPTION 2 Saturday mornings, 10 – 1pm,  Sept 20th, Oct 11th, Oct 18th

Location: Bristol Textile Quarter, 1A Barton Road, Bristol, BS2 0LF

Cost: £200 for 3 sessions.

Tutor: Emilie Sharman-Hayle

Group size: 3 to 5 (we prefer to work with small groups to allow for more personalised supervision as you  get to grips with your machine)
